Who is God in our lives?
1. Jehovah Rohi (Hi) (The Lord is My Shepard)
2. Jehovah Tiskenu (Tis-ka-doo) The Lord our Righteousness
3. Jehovah Ra Fa-The Lord who Heals
4. Jehovah Nissi (knee see)-The Lord is my Banner
5. Jehovah Jireh (ji ree)-The Lord will Provide
The Lord my Shepard
A. John 10:1-18, Isaiah 40:9-11
The Lord is our caretaker.
People are like sheep because they have no sense of direction and let things attach to them like sheep.
Sheep have thick fur and bugs and parasites attach to their fur and they are unable to expel the parasites and as a result they catch diseases.
Likewise, humans let anger, jealousy, strife, bitterness, revenge attach to their minds, and they are unable to rid them of these thoughts.
Our heavenly Sheppard gives us a new way thinking and like the Shepard who rakes the parasites out of the fur of the sheep to allow for healing, our heavenly father removes destructive ways of thinking that cause us to destroy our lives.

-
The way we see ourselves matters.
-
The fact of the matter is that we quickly realize that we often come up short in life. Everyone else seems to be smarter or looks better or has more than us.
-
We feel we are not good enough. We can’t accomplish the goals we have set. We cannot live up to the expectations people set. Especially expectations our family and friends set for us. Everybody seems to be right but us. We are just not good enough.
-
This is wrong thinking from God’s perspective. God views humans differently who walk with him, who receive him, who acknowledge him.
-
God is the Lord of our Righteousness.
-
These verses refer to a time when the Messiah, Israel’s Shepard King will sit on the throne of David.
-
The Messiah is the “Righteous Branch” from the family line of David and through that royal line comes Jesus.
-
·When we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, Jesus our Lord is our righteousness.
Isaiah 61:10
-
The Lord clothes us in His Righteousness
-
God looks as us differently when we receive Him in His Righteousness.
-
Man sees you as incomplete. Inefficient, immoral, not worth enough, not good enough, not smart enough, I can never measure up.
-
Lauren Daigles song “You Say” sums up the battle we continue to have in our mind.
-
“I keep fighting voices in my mind that say I’m not enough, Every single lie that tells me I will never measure up, Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low, remind me once again just who I am because I need to know. “You say I am loved when I can’t feel a thing, you say I am strong when I think I am weak, the only thing that matters now is everything you think of me. In you I find my worth, in you I find my identity.”
-
Daigle’s song describes the battle that we face everyday when we don’t receive God in our life as our Lord of Righteous.
-
You cannot be righteousness unless you receive God as your righteousness
Isaiah 61:10
God has clothes us with the garments of salvation
-
What is Salvation?
-
Being delivered from sin (sin is going our own way, rejecting God as our Lord and doing whatever we want vs Righteousness-being in right standing with God, respecting and following his plan for our life). Being delivered from sin and its consequences which includes spiritual death and separation from God.
-
We become clothed with the garment of salvation when we have repented, confessed w/our mouth and believe in our heart that Jesus is Lord and that he died for our sins and was raised from the dead and he is alive right now and we accept him as our Lord and Savior and promise to turn away from our life of sin
-
We then covered with the robe of righteousness and are justified in the eyes of God.
Colossians 3:3, 7, 9-10
-
Once we receive God as our Righteousness
-
Paul tells us in Col. 3:3 that our life becomes hidden in Christ.
-
Christ is in intimate relation with God and now our life is in Christ.
-
Our life now belongs to the spiritual realm.
-
When you are in Christ and hiding in His secret place (His thoughts, His worldview, His ideas, His ways of communicating) you are protected from being drawn into idolatry and evil behavior
Colossians 3:3-14 (The walk of a person clothed in righteousness)
-
When you are righteous through Christ
-
You will say what you need to say. You will be what you need to be.
-
Righteousness means conforming to the Will of God and being molded to what he wants us to be.
-
If you have accepted who you are in God and you have received Him in your life, stop sitting in your mess and move on!
-
You are saved because God is your Righteousness.
